34th Annual Tulip Run Date: Saturday, April 6th

2019 marks the 34th running of the Tulip Run and over the years the race and distances has changed with the times. Originally it was a 10K and 2.5 mile race and was changed to a 2 and 5 mile race once it moved to the Port of Skagit. Due to loss of trails, we have changed the 5 mile race to a 10K and the 2 mile race returns to its original configuration.
The Tulip Run is a relative flat and fast rural course at the Skagit Regional Airport. The 10K course actually starts with a half mile downhill on Higgins Airport Way which means you will repeat that route on trail coming up the slight incline. The two mile is totally flat! The start and finish lines for the race is located at Van Zyverden Bulb, 12035 Higgins Aiport Way. The 10K course consist of mostly hard packed gravel trails with a small portion being on the road where as the two mile will be about half road, half trail. Unless directed, runners will run to the right side of the road until coming to a volunteer to assist with the road crossing. The course will be clearly marked and monitors will be at all intersections. Due to the course restrictions, participants must finish within 2 hours. The weather on race day is typically nice and cool. Please dress appropriately.
When returning to the warehouse where their will be food and drinks (please bring your water bottles…..no cups at warehouse!), please stay to the right of Higgins Airport Way and 2 milers are to take the trail to avoid the 10K crossing Higgins onto the trail at Watertank (finish area).
Be mindful of traffic when crossing Peterson Road back to the warehouse. Watch for turning traffic from Higgins Airport Way. Peterson has a stop sign.

2019 Run for Relief
2019 I Just Want to Be A Unicorn

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) is a big fancy word for a brain stem tumor. There is no cure for DIPG and normally effects children. Children typically live 4 to 9 months after diagnosis. This is an inoperable tumor that can easily go undetected. With DIPG, parents watch their children suffer, and try to live the best life possible. This 5k and fun walk will help to raise funds for a DIPG family’s living expenses while treatment is being undergone. It will also help their parents to be able to spend the time they need with their children.
We will have a chip timed 5k and untimed fun walk, with all proceeds going to the family expenses fund. Let your day be magical as you help to promote and support this fund hosted by the Julia Barbara Foundation. This fund helps families that are affected take the time to spend with their families without worrying about bills. We will have crafts for kiddos and adults alike!
Awards go to Top 3 Male and Female overall with awards in 10 year age increments for adults: 8 and under, 9-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
The route takes place at the Cherokee Greenway located off Alcoa Hwy, just southwest of UT. The route features a loop with an out and back on the scenic greenway.
